For the past day or so, I’ve been having a frustrating issue with the “Fetch as Google” feature in Webmaster Tools.
Basically, I have been unable to submit new pages to Google’s index, despite being well below the maximum quota limit. For some reason or another, URLs are not being added to the page when I press the “Fetch” button. Instead, I have to refresh the page before I can see them. Once the page is fully refreshed, the URL and its accompanying “Submit to index” button appears.
Unfortunately, it seems as though the “Submit to index” button is also broken, as I receive the following error whenever I attempt to select the “Crawl only this URL” option:
An error has occurred. Please try again later.
Note that the “Crawl this URL and its direct links” option is also returning the same error message.
This is all a bit of a bummer, as I had one submission left for the “Crawl this URL and its direct links” option; something that I had intended on using for one of my new websites (as you probably already know, new websites with a lot of content can take a while to be indexed, so this feature is particularly handy).
Hopefully, the issue is fixed in the next day or so! If anything changes, I’ll be sure to update this post.
Update: This is a temporary issue that will go away by itself.
