In this guide, we are going to show you how to make a Facebook post “shareable”.
In certain cases, the content that you’re posting might be important to the general public. That, or it could contain information that you want to raise awareness about.
For example, if your pet has gone missing or a tree has fallen on a nearby road.
In other words, it is something that you want strangers to be able to see and share.
How do I make my Facebook post shareable?
By default, most people have their Facebook posts set to “Friends only”.
In other words, only their friends can see their posts. Consequently, friends cannot share the post and strangers cannot see it.
If your post is set to “Friends Only”, only you will be able to share it.
Your friends will not see the share option. They will only be able to like or comment.
How to set your post to public.
In order to make your post shareable, you will need to set the privacy settings to “Public”.
To do this, you will need to start off by clicking on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of your post.
After that, a menu will appear at the bottom:
In this case, we want to click on the “Edit Privacy” option.
Once you have clicked on the “Edit Privacy” button, you will be provided with a number of different privacy options for your post.
By default, your post will probably have the “Friends” setting. However, you will need to change this to “Public” and then hit the back button.
After you change this privacy setting, Facebook will display a globe icon beside your post:
This globe icon means that your post is “Public” and that it is now “shareable” by everyone.
Furthermore, your friends will now be able to see the “Share” icon in the bottom right-hand corner.
How do I make it shareable on the website version of Facebook?
If you are using the website version of Facebook, then the steps are pretty similar.
Start off by clicking on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of your post:
Once you have done that, the following menu will appear:
As you can see, the only difference here is that the website calls it “Edit audience” instead of “Edit privacy.”
In order to make your post shareable, simply click on “Edit audience” and change the privacy setting to “Public”.
