This is a guide on how to make a Facebook post “shareable”.
In certain cases, the content that you’re posting might be important to the general public. That or it could contain information that you want to raise awareness about. For example, if your pet has gone missing or a tree has fallen on a nearby road.
i.e. It is something that you want strangers to be able to see and share.
As a result, one of your friends may ask you to make your Facebook post shareable.
How do I make my Facebook post shareable?
By default, most people have their Facebook posts set to “Friends only”. In other words, only their friends can see their posts. Consequently, friends cannot share the post and strangers cannot see it.
If your post is set to “Friends Only”, only you will be able to share it. Your friends will not see the share option. They will only be able to like or comment.
Set your post to public.
In order to make your post shareable, you will need to set the privacy settings to “Public”. To do this, you will need to start off by clicking on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of your post.
After that, a new menu will appear at the bottom.
In this case, we want to click on the “Edit Privacy” option.
Once you have clicked on the “Edit Privacy” button, you will be provided with a number of different privacy options for your post.
By default, your post will probably be set to “Friends”. However, you will need to change this to “Public” and then hit the back button.
After that change has been applied, Facebook will now show a globe / earth icon beside your post.
This globe icon means that your post is “Public” and that it is now “shareable” by everyone. Furthermore, your friends will now be able to see the “Share” icon in the bottom right-hand corner.
How do I make it shareable on the website version of Facebook?
The steps to make your posts public on the website version of Facebook are pretty similar.
Click on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of your post.
Once you have done that, the following menu will appear.
As you can see, the only difference here is that the website calls it “Edit audience” instead of “Edit privacy.”
In order to make your post shareable, simply click on “Edit audience” and change the privacy setting to “Public”.
