The other day, I went looking for a TikTok video that I had commented on. Subsequently, I spent the better part of 10 minutes fumbling through the app looking for some sort of option to see which videos I had left comments on. Unfortunately, unlike Facebook and other apps, TikTok does not have an “Activity Log” feature.
In other words, if you commented on the video, but you didn’t like it or favorite it, then you’re out of luck.
Well, kind of. Because at this point, you are now relying on the actions of others.
You can only find your TikTok comments if other people have liked them or replied to them.
If your comment received likes or replies from other users, then you might be able to find it in the “All activity” section.
As you can see in the screenshot above, TikTok will send you a notification whenever someone likes or replies to your comment. Consequently, you can sometimes find your older TikTok comments by viewing your notifications section.
However, there could be a small caveat.
In the past, I have noticed that TikTok doesn’t always send you a notification if someone likes your comment. I know this because on one of my comments, I received two likes. However, the app did not send me any notifications about them. There could be numerous reasons for this, or it may have just been a bug at the time. Either way, it is something that is worth pointing out.
How to keep track of your comments on TikTok.
To avoid this situation in the future, you should do one the following after you have left a comment:
- You can favorite the TikTok video. This feature is useful because it allows you to privately save the video to your favorites section. Use this method if you do not want to give the video a like.
- You can simply like the video that you have just commented on. This works because TikTok allows you to view a list of the videos that you have previously liked (see below).
Viewing videos that you have liked on TikTok.
If you also liked the TikTok video that you commented on, then you should be able to find it in the “Liked videos” section.
In the middle of your profile, just underneath the “Edit profile” option, you will see a heart icon. This heart icon also has a privacy symbol on it. This is because your liked videos are private by default unless you specifically choose to make them public. i.e. Only you can see them.
If you click on the heart icon, TikTok will display a list of the videos that you have previously liked. Obviously, in your case, you will have to sift through this list in order to find the video that you commented on.
Conclusion: Currently, there is no DIRECT way to find a TikTok video that you commented on.
Yes, I agree. It sucks. There is nothing worse than realizing that the video is gone forever. Lost in an endless pile of memes, trends, dad jokes and dance videos.
However, until TikTok adds such a feature, we are just going to have to use the workarounds that are available to us.
