Disinformation warning: The INFTO doesn’t even exist.

Today, a screenshot of a statement from an organisation called “the INFTO” appeared on social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter.

This statement claims to have come from a group of ‘concerned nurses’ and Irish healthcare workers.

However, there is no evidence that such a group exists.

Google searches for “INFTO” show up completely blank. Furthermore, we could find no trace of the organisation on Facebook or Twitter.

The only thing that we could find was an anonymous one-page website on a hosting platform called LeadPages.

Despite demanding “openness” and “transparency”, the website offers no details about who is behind it.

In order to get more details about the group, the site asks you to fill out personal details such as your name and phone number.

Furthermore, the title on the contact form is written as “contact me“, not “contact us“.

The problem with anonymous websites is that anyone can create one.

In other words, it is highly possible that the INFTO is actually an individual who is masquerading as a group of healthcare professionals in order to push COVID disinformation.
