This is a short guide on how to mute a person’s story on Snapchat. There are a number of reasons why you might want to do this:
- They upload way too many stories.
- You find their stories annoying or inappropriate.
- You’ve come to the realization that they never look at your story and now you feel like returning the favor.
By muting their story, you can avoid having to unfollow them (something they will be able to figure out).
Step 1. Find their story.
Navigate to the Discover section of Snapchat and locate the person’s story. Once you have found their story, press on it and hold. This will bring up a Friendship menu with several options.
Step 2. Click on “More”
Once the Friendship menu has popped up, find the “More” option.
At the time of writing (July of 2019), this was located between the “Video Call” and “Send Username To” options:
Step 3. Click on “Mute Story”
After you have clicked on “More”, extra options will appear. One of these is the “Mute Story” option, which is right below “Edit Name”.
And that’s it! Once you click on “Mute Story”, their story will be hidden from your Discover section and you won’t have to manually skip it or avoid it anymore.
Will they find out that I muted their story?
This will obviously depend on how perceptive they are. If they are perceptive, then they might figure out that you haven’t been viewing their story. However, they will never be able to know for certain that you have muted their story. Instead, they might think that you haven’t been using Snapchat as much or that you haven’t been viewing people’s stories in general.
Hopefully, this guide helped!
