In Internet slang, the blind emoji means that a person or a certain group of people are blind to a certain issue. That or they are intentionally ignoring it.
The emoji in question consists of a blind man or a blind woman who is walking with a cane.
People will use the 👨🦯 emoji to accuse a group of ignoring something.
In many cases, these emojis will accompany some sort of snide statement about a certain group.
For example:
- “Women when they see this. 👩🦯👩🦯👩🦯”
- “Fans of X when they see this video. 👨🦯👨🦯👨🦯”
The emoji is particularly common in “gender war” discussions, where people will accuse the other “side” of being blind to a certain issue.
The comment above was posted on a TikTok video about a man who discovered that his wife was cheating.
In this case, this user is accusing women of having double standards. In his opinion, women only “appear” in the comment section to criticize infidelity when it is a man who is at fault.
In the Tweet above, this user is claiming that men will ignore evidence that backs up abuse accusations against soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.
As you can see, a lot of this stuff is petty Internet drama. Furthermore, these statements tend to tar an entire group of people with the same brush.
Although this emoji is common in “gender war” discussions, it can apply to any group that is perceived to be ignoring something.
It can also apply to an individual.
Here, a Twitter user is accusing a soccer referee of refusing to send off Bruno Fernandes.
People will also use the blind emoji in a self-deprecating fashion.
People will also use this emoji to highlight how they will ignore certain things in their lives.
For example:
“Me walking past the dishes in the sink. 👨🦯👨🦯👨🦯”.
Obviously, the joke here is that this person will act “blind” whenever they walk past a pile of dishes. In other words, they will just ignore them.
In the case above, this Twitter user is saying that he will spend money that he doesn’t have. Instead of budgeting and spending less, he would rather just ignore what his bank balance is telling him.
